Seahawks release freshman Carlos Dunlap as likely casualty

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seattle Seahawks will cut veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap today.

Seattle acquired Dunlap in the middle of the previous season for BJ Finney and a seventh round of 2021, and he was one of, if not, the most productive fitting machine on the Seahawks defense for the second half of the season.

Dunlap had another year left on his contract when the Seahawks acquired him, and he would carry a $ 14,037,500 cap, with a death capitalization of $ 0 if cut. So John Schneider and the Seahawks decision-makers realized that at his age and with the current situation for the prize, Dunlap was not yet worth the $ 14 million prize for another season.

It has been rumored that the team is hopeful of signing the 32-year-old again, but at a cheaper rate, but it is just as possible that Dunlap will get a new home at a deal he wants.

Now Seattle has about $ 14 million to spend this season to possibly protect Russell Wilson with an abusive linebacker, or spend elsewhere.

But this is probably not the news you wanted to hear to start a new week.
