Coronary encephalitis and pulmonary disease are some of the more serious cases that he has identified in his scientific data on patients diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome in Puerto Rico.
And it is Puerto Rican scientists who are officially publishing the scientific data of patients diagnosed with this syndrome in Puerto Rico and have been exposed to the recent international community.
In an interview with Medicina y Salud Pública (MSP), doctor Patricia Jordán González, rheumatologist with practice in South Florida and who was part of the Section of Rheumatology of the Department of Medical Sciences (RCM), brindo the most relevant dates that continue in Iceland not only in the scientific study of también denominado ojo y boca seca syndrome, but also that también allows to establish the first comparisons between the ethnic groups, as it is in this case the Hispanos, lieu of the research in the first 100 patients diagnosed this affection.
Sjogren’s Syndrome is also known as ojo and boca’s syndrome, affecting various organs of the body with a smooth and lacrimal glans. Provokes an aguda resequedad en la nariz y garganta y, a su vez, causa ronquera, tos seca, dificultad al tragar, extremes cansanci, erupciones en la piel, reflujo gastrico y hasta pérdida temprana de dentadura, entre otros.
The same can be documented in Sjogren’s primary (SSp), in people with a history of rheumatic disease, and secondarily, whose patients are pre-diagnosed with other rheumatic conditions.
This media reported exclusively the first initiations of our studies in Puerto Rico in 2015, by the mano of doctor Luis Vilá, jefe of the Section of Rheumatology of the Recinto de Ciencias Médicas (RCM) and chief investigator of this syndrome in Puerto Rico, al there is no such date in Spanish.
“In the first study we evaluated the factors that are associated with the accumulation of a Hispanic population in Puerto Rico with Sjogren’s Primary Syndrome. “As clinicians have data on these subjects we can identify those patients who are at risk of developing complications and who need more clinical follow-up or more immunosuppressive therapies in stages,” he explained.
“We find that there are marketers in the blood of accumulative blood, which are denominated as Complementary factors C3 and C4 (proteins associated with lupus patients and other rheumatological diseases). It’s just as well that these patients have the same levels of these markets, and if they have coronary heart disease and there are many corticosteroid and other treatments, they could develop a disease more severely in place or massively.
In the second part of the study, hello, it seems that the levels of both C3 and C4 markets in patients with Sjogren’s Syndrome in the Isla Pudieran are most associated with a mayor’s number of extraglandular manifestations (renal, etc.). pulmonary interstitial disease (inflammation or scarring of the pulmonaries), among others.
“Only this patient can present ojo seco, boca seca, if he also has an involvement hacia the interstitial disease of the pulmonary, vasculitis, and it is suggested that if these patients present these values of C3 and C4 bajos, may the patient more, what has not been described in this Hispanic public because only he has data that other publications with the disease have a large and undeveloped lineage ”, confirmed.
These data are precisely shared with Paez rheumatologists, in order to precisely create the knowledge that a patient identifies in these patients the levels of C3 and C4 markets, initiating a more aggressive therapeutic plan, added the Rheumatology.
Another date that the specialist added is that there is data that suggests that men of other ethnicities – not Hispanics – are diagnosed with this autoimmune disease and both levels of these markets, as well as being more aggressive.
“In these studies we confirm that this clinical team is based on high blood sugar markets also predispose patients of the Isla to a more severe disease. The most important thing is that the specialists emit the diagnostic examinations at the market levels C3 and C4 in order to know how to treat this patient ”, overflowed.
These studies were published in scientific publications such as the European Journal of Rheumatology and the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology.
