Schwartz enforces ‘no-hat rule’ as Eagles want to play a spoiler against Washington

The only opportunity the Philadelphia Eagles have left in a disappointing season is the chance to play a treat.

Bend in Sunday night Soccer for the last week, the Eagles are the only NFC East team to be out of the dispute of the season before week 17. However, a win over Washington could deter the DC team from reaching the playoffs, making it the winner of the Cowboys-Giants game division champion.

Eagles defense coordinator Jim Schwartz said it was not enough motivation for an otherwise pointless week 17 not to allow Washington to win a division.

“We need to have a no-hat rule this week,” Schwartz said via PennLive. “We can not allow opponents to put on division hats on the Linc. There is a lot of pride in that, and all our focus must be [on] reach it this week. ‘

Schwartz’s defense has been fueled this season, including the 20-point loss to Dallas last week in which secondary Philly Andy Dalton looked like Roger Staubach.

Asked to evaluate his defense in 2020, Schwartz said it was one game too early for judging. It comes after their last chance to do something meaningful during the 2020 season, even if it’s just raining on someone else’s parade.

“There’s too much at stake,” Schwartz said. ‘It may not be at stake for us as a team with a play-off place and things like that, but we have a lot of individual things that players can still achieve. We have guys trying to earn their earnings in the league, and we have a division opponent who is going to come and celebrate on our field. ‘
