SAWS opens bulk distribution sites for water on Friday

SAN ANTONIO San Antonio Water System will open seven water distribution facilities at its pumping stations on Friday to supply customers with water.

Residents will have to bring their own clean containers such as jugs to fill with water, the utility said in a news release.

Customers are allowed five liters of water per person. As a precaution, the water must be boiled before it is drunk or used to boil it. This reflects the current advice for boiling water for the city.

The working hours are Friday from 12 to 18 hours. From Saturday, the working hours are every day from 8 to 18 hours. The sites will be open until the water system returns to normal.

Customers should expect the possibility of long queues at the pumping stations.

Residents are asked to adhere to all COVID-19 precautions, such as wearing a mask and maintaining at least six feet of physical distance.

The city of San Antonio and the San Antonio Food Bank will also set up separate bottled water distribution areas throughout the city. More information about the program is coming soon.
