Satechi’s latest USB-C hub supports 4K at 60Hz and 100W throughput

Satechi has released a new USB-C hub for your laptop to add all the ports it would probably need to include in the first place. Although the port choice on the $ 99.99 USB-C On-the-Go Multiport Adapter is similar to other hubs, the high specification of each port deserves Satechi’s attention. Besides laptops, it also works with USB-C tablets like recent iPad Pro models.

The hub has HDMI, which offers a maximum resolution of 4K and a refresh rate of 60Hz, and there is USB-C PD throughput up to 100W (although you have to supply your own powerhouse). The cable to attach it to your device is not like on some hubs, and Satechi provides two USB-C to USB-C cables with the hub. The one is 1m long and there is a second short cable that can be packed in the hub if you are traveling. There is a VGA port that supports up to 1080p / 60Hz, two USB-A and one USB-C data port, gigabit Ethernet and SD and microSD card life.

It works with laptops and USB-C tablets.

We have seen in the past that many USB-C hubs offer similar specifications, but it is less common for everyone to be offered in such a convenient package. Sony’s MRW-S3 announced in 2019 offered 100W USB-C PD, but maximum at 4K / 30Hz. This USB-C hub from Anker does 4K / 60Hz and charges up to 100W (minus 15W for use), but it has a short USB-C host cable that is not detachable. The new hub from Satechi also takes up only one USB-C port on your device, unlike others we’ve seen over the years.

It also offers the flexibility of an additional VGA port in addition to the HDMI port, although it is noted on a Satechi support sheet that ‘the VGA port only supports mirror level.’ This will probably make the VGA port useful for connecting your laptop or tablet to a projector.

The new hub from Satechi is now available for $ 99.99, and until March 15, the company is offering 20 percent off if you use the code “MULTIPORT20”.
