Provincial health officials are now instructing local hospitals to administer many Moderna vaccines that were discontinued earlier this week due to the possible increased risk of allergic reactions.
Santa Clara County receives approximately 21,800 doses of the Modern Lot 41L20A distributed in early January, and more than 330,000 of these doses are distributed across the state. Health officials stopped the administration of the lot after several individuals experienced allergic reactions at a vaccination center in San Diego last week.
Local hospitals said earlier this week that they had not administered any vaccines, or that they had administered them before the break, but that they had not recorded any allergic reactions.
“These findings confirm that the systems put in place to ensure the safety of the vaccine are working as they should,” said Santa Clara County Public Health Officer Dr. Sara Cody, said. “This latest, accurate, scientific review of possible allergic reactions has once again confirmed that the vaccine is safe … People in Santa Clara County can be confident that vaccinating our community against COVID-19 will save lives and if we make our way out. the pandemic can serve. “
The epidemiologist in California, dr. Erica Pan, said the decision to resume the vaccinations of the fate was taken after a group for scientific safety reviews was convened with additional allergy and immunology specialists across the state.
“These findings should continue to give Californians the confidence that vaccines are safe and effective, and that the systems put in place to ensure vaccine safety are rigorous and scientifically based,” Pan said. ‘Members of my family who have qualified to receive the vaccine as health workers, or because of their age, have already received the COVID-19 vaccine, and I encourage every Californian to get the vaccine when it is their turn. . ‘
As of January 21, the country reported 94,905 cumulative COVID-19 cases and 1,129 deaths.
