Sandra Sellers, professor of Georgetown law, fired over remarks about black students

Georgetown Law fired a deputy professor and put another on leave over remarks about black students at the university. Sandra Sellers, who is white, during a recorded Zoom call, “I hate to say it. Finally, every semester I have the anxiety that many black people are black. Happens almost every semester. And it’s like, ‘Oh, come on.’ You get a lot of good, but there is usually a lot at the bottom as well. It drives me crazy. She apologized in a letter of resignation: “I will never do anything to intentionally hurt my students or the Georgetown Law and wish I could take back my words. Regardless of my intent, I have suffered irreparable damage and I am really sorry about this. David Batson, also part of the call, was placed on leave. The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action of Georgetown University has opened an inquiry. William Treanor, dean for law, called the comments “reprehensible”.
