San Francisco opens vaccines for those 16 and older in certain zip codes

Referring to fairness reasons, San Francisco’s health officials vaccinated residents ages 16 and older in certain zip codes on Friday.

The move by the San Francisco Health Network, the health care division of the city’s Department of Public Health, comes just before all California residents 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine next week.

The zip codes – 94124, 94134, 94107, 94110, 94112, 94102, 94130 and 94103 – are located in the following neighborhoods: the Bayview, Hunters Points, Visitacion Valley, Portola, Sunnydale, Excelsior, Mission, Oceanview, Ingleside, Balboa Park, Potrero Hill, the Dogpatch, Mission Bay, SoMa, Tenderloin and Treasure Island.

“The state of California offers discretion to providers who serve high-impact areas, over whom they must vaccinate to support prioritization of communities most affected by the pandemic,” San Francisco’s COVID Command Center said in a statement. The Chronicle said Friday night. “San Francisco is expanding vaccine admissions and offering COVID-19 vaccines for 16 and older before the expansion on April 15, 2021 in the city-wide affected pandemic.”

Two of the suitable zip codes are also on the state’s list of 400 postcodes with the lowest income preferred for vaccine.

Residents can drop by the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital every day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or the Southeastern Health Center in the Bayview-Hunters Point area daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Individuals aged 16 and 17 must go to the general In hospital, Pfizer is issued – the only shot for which they are eligible – while the Southeastern Health Center administers Moderna.

The San Francisco Health Network last week opened vaccines for its patients 16 years and older, and Alameda County also recently opened access to vaccines for residents 16 years and older in certain zip codes. A few other provinces – Contra Costa, Butte and Stanislaus – have already opened vaccinations for all residents aged 16 and over, regardless of the postcode.
