San Francisco 49ers sign Alex Bowl, Pro Bowl center, for three years

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – One day after the San Francisco 49ers retained their own offensive lineout from the Pro Bowl, they added another from outside and signed center Alex Mack to a three-year contract.

The terms of the contract, which were announced by the team on Thursday, were not yet available. The Mack deal has been brewing since the early hours of Wednesday morning after Trent Williams tagged with the left-wing approach in an Instagram post announcing his own signing with the 49ers.

Long before that, however, Mack was a logical connection to San Francisco. He played his college ball at nearby Cal and was a favorite of 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan when he played for the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons in 2016 for him in 2016.

Mack, 35, completed his fifth season with the Hawks last season. He joined Atlanta before the 2015-16 season as a free agent on a $ 57.5 million five-year contract.

He was selected to six Pro Bowls in his 12-season career, including his first three seasons with the Hawks.

Mack spent the first seven seasons of his career in Cleveland, where he was selected to his first three Pro Bowls.

Set as the 21st overall pick in 2009 by the Browns, he has started all 179 games in his career. He has missed just two games for the Falcons in his five seasons, both of which come last season, as he missed the last two games due to a concussion and was placed on the reserve / COVID-19 list.
