San Francisco 49ers lose two more coaches to the New York Jets

New York Jets new head coach Robert Saleh has taken on two attacking assistants from the San Francisco 49ers. The former defense coordinator has selected Niners passing play coordinator Mike LaFleur to be his attacking coordinator and offensive line coach John Benton to serve in the same position, with the additional title coordinator of the run game. according to a report by Mike Silver, NFL Media.

The 49ers will promote Chris Foerster, currently the team’s game planning assistant, to become the offensive line coach, and have appointed Rich Scangarello as the quarterback coach. What comes from quarterback coach Shane Day is unknown.

Foerster was an assistant offensive line coach last year and will return in 2015 to the role he played in the 49ers under Jim Tomsula.

Scangarello was head coach Kyle Shanahan’s first quarterback coach at the 49ers, before becoming the Broncos’ offensive coordinator in 2018. He was sacked after one season and joined the Eagles as an attacking assistant. His return looks imminent after leaving Philadelphia and an exodus of 49ers offensive coaches seems likely.
