The 49ers plan to make an addition to their attacking coaching staff. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported on Friday Butch Barry joins San Francisco as assistant attacking line coach.
Barry spent last season as a senior analyst for Green Bay, where he signed ahead of the 2020 campaign. Prior to his career with the Packers, Barry was the attacking coach at the University of Miami.
He made his coaching debut in the Southwest Minnesota state in 2004 as their attacking line coach. From there, he left for Michigan Tech in 2006 as an attacking line coach and eventually became their attacking coordinator. After that, he jumped to North Greenville University and back to Central Michigan, where he played his college football and spent two years in 2002 and 2003 as a graduate assistant.
Barry’s NFL coaching debut comes with the Buccaneers in 2015. He was the assistant Olympic coach for Tampa Bay for four years before taking the Olympic coaching position at the University of Miami in 2019.
In San Francisco, he will work under Olympic coach Chris Foerster. He was an assistant coach at OL last year.
