San Diego County COVID-19 Update – 4-21-2021 | News

Here’s today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through April 20th.

Vaccination claim:

  • More than 2.58 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been delivered in the region, and more than 2.35 million have been recorded as administered. This number includes residents of the state as well as those who work in San Diego County.
  • Overall, nearly 1.32 million residents in the province received at least one uptake of the two-dose vaccine. This is 49% of those who are eligible.
  • Of those vaccinated so far, nearly 847,000 residents of the province, or 31.5% of San Diegans 16 and older, have been fully vaccinated.
  • The goal is to vaccinate fully 75% of San Diego County residents, 16 years and older, or 2,017,011 people. To date, 65.3% of the target population have received at least one vaccine and 42% have been fully vaccinated.
  • Those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is currently suspended in the province due to leadership of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, the total vaccinated San Diegans is added.
  • The difference between the doses sent and the number of vaccinations administered represents approximately what is expected to be used in the next seven days and the doses yet to be recorded in the record system.

State statistics:

  • The state-of-the-art, adjusted case rate of San Diego County is currently 6.1 cases per 100,000 residents (as of April 20).
  • The county remains in the Orange Tier or Tier 3 under the new leadership of the state. The California Department of Public Health indicates that unless there are mitigating conditions, such as the low rate of vaccine intake, a country will only move to a more limited level if hospitalizations increase significantly among vulnerable individuals, especially among vaccinated individuals, and both test positivity. and adjusted exchange rates show an increase in transfer. This is currently not the case in the region.
  • Currently, the positive percentage of the test is 2.4%, which places the county in level 3 or the orange level.
  • The county’s health equity measure, which looks at positive testing for areas with the lowest health conditions, is 3.0% and is also in the Orange Tier or Tier 3.
  • CDPH reviews provinces weekly. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27th.

Community Institutions:

  • Eight new community outbreaks were confirmed on April 20: two in restaurant / bar settings, two in grocery / retail settings, one in a daycare / preschool / childcare setting, one in government, one in a business setting and one in a TC -12 grade school institution.
  • In the last seven days (April 14 to 20), 21 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
  • The number of community outbreaks remains within seven days above the trigger of seven or more.
  • A community setting has been defined over the past 14 days as three or more COVID-19 cases in an area and among people from different households.

Test:

  • 16,947 tests were reported to the province on April 20, and the percentage of new positive cases was 2%.
  • The current average percentage of positive cases of 14 days is 1.7%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The daily average of 7 days is 12,872.

Cases, hospitalizations and recordings of ICUs:

  • 263 COVID-19 cases were reported to the County on April 20th. The total of the region is now 275,631.
  • 15 186 or 5.5% of all cases required hospitalization.
  • 1 676 or 0.6% of all cases and 11% of the hospital cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • Seven new COVID-19 deaths were reported on April 20. The region’s total is 3,681.
  • Four women and three men died between April 4 and April 19.
  • Of the people who died, two were 80 years old or older, one was in their 70s, two were in their 60s, one was in their 50s and one was in their 40s.
  • All had underlying medical conditions.
