Here’s today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through April 12th.

Vaccination claim:

  • Nearly 2.28 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been delivered in the region, and approximately 2.2 million have been recorded as administered. This number includes residents of the state as well as those who work in San Diego County.
  • Of those vaccinated so far, more than 745,000 residents of the province, or 27.7% of San Diegans 16 and older, have been fully vaccinated.
  • Overall, nearly 1.2 million residents of the province received at least one shot of the two-dose vaccine. This is 44.3% of those who are eligible.
  • Those who received the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is currently being held in the province under the direction of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, are being added to the total of the full vaccinated San Diegans.
  • The difference between the doses delivered and those used in a vaccination is approximately what is expected to be administered in the next seven days and the doses still to be recorded in the record system.

State statistics:

  • San Diego County’s calculated, adjusted case rate is currently 6.0 cases per 100,000 population (as of April 13) and this data point places the region in the Red Tier or Tier 2. (The County remains in the Orange Tier or T3 below the immediately after state guidance. )
  • The California Department of Public Health recently advised that unless there are mitigating conditions, such as the low rate of vaccine intake, a country will only move to a more limited level if hospitalizations increase significantly among vulnerable individuals, especially among vaccinated individuals, and both test. positivity and adjusted cases show an increase in transfer. This is currently not the case in the region, and the county remains in the Orange Tier or Tier 3.
  • Currently, the test positivity percentage is 2.5%, which places the county in level 3 or the orange level.
  • The county’s health equity measure, which looks at the positive testing for areas with the lowest health conditions, is 3.0% and is also in the Orange Tier or Tier 3.
  • CDPH reviews provinces weekly. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20th.

Community Institutions:

  • No new community outbreaks were confirmed on April 12.
  • In the last seven days (6 to 12 April), 16 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
  • The number of community outbreaks remains within seven days above the trigger of seven or more.
  • An outbreak in a community over the past 14 days is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases in an area and in people from different households.

Test:

  • 12,404 tests were reported to the province on April 12, and the percentage of new positive cases was 2%.
  • The current average percentage of positive cases of 14 days is 2%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The daily average of 7 days, is 12,549.

Cases, hospitalizations and recordings of ICUs:

  • 278 COVID-19 cases were reported to the County on April 12th. The total of the region is now 273,708.
  • 15,024 or 5.5% of all cases required hospitalization.
  • 1 665 or 0.6% of all cases and 11.1% of the hospital cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • Two new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on April 12. The total of the region is 3,623.
  • A woman and a man died between 26 February and 9 April.
  • Of the people who died, one was 80 years old or older and one in their 60s.
  • Both had underlying medical conditions.
