San Diego County COVID-19 Update – 4-12-2021 | News

Here’s today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through April 11th.

Vaccination claim:

  • Nearly 2.23 million COVID-19 vaccine doses were delivered in the region and approximately 2.1 million were recorded as administered. This number includes residents of the state as well as those who work in San Diego County.
  • Of those vaccinated to date, nearly 720,000 residents of the province, or 26.8% of San Diegans 16 and older, have been fully vaccinated.
  • Overall, nearly 1.2 million residents in the country received at least one shot of the two-dose vaccine. This is 44% of those who are eligible.
  • Those who receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are added to the total of the fully vaccinated San Diegans.
  • The difference between doses delivered and those used in a vaccination represents approximately what is expected to be administered in the next seven days and doses yet to be recorded in the record system.

State statistics:

  • San Diego County’s state-of-the-art, custom case rate is currently 5.8 cases per 100,000 residents (as of April 6) and the region is in Orange Tier or Tier 3.
  • Currently, the test positivity percentage is 2.3%, which places the county in level 3 or the orange level.
  • The county’s measure of health equity, which looks at the positive testing for areas with the lowest healthy conditions, is 2.6% and is also in the Orange Tier or Tier 3.
  • All three criteria place the province in the Orange Tier or Tier 3 for activities.
  • The California Department of Public Health reviews provinces weekly. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13th.

Community Institutions:

  • One new community outbreak was confirmed on April 11 in a restaurant setting.
  • One new community outbreak was confirmed on April 10 in a daycare / preschool / childcare setting.
  • One new community outbreak was confirmed on April 9 in a government setting.
  • In the last seven days (5 to 11 April), 17 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
  • The number of community outbreaks remains within seven days above the trigger of seven or more.
  • An outbreak in a community over the past 14 days is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases in an area and in people from different households.

Test:

  • 7,367 tests were reported to the province on April 11, and the percentage of new positive cases was 2%.
  • The current average percentage of positive cases of 14 days is 2%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The daily average of 7 days is 12,344.

Cases, hospitalizations and recordings of ICUs:

  • 144 cases of COVID-19 were reported to the province on 11 April. The region’s total is now 273,430.
  • 14,995 or 5.5% of all cases required hospitalization.
  • 1664 or 0.6% of all cases and 11.1% of the hospital cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • No new COVID-19 deaths were reported on April 11. The region’s total is 3,621. Two deaths previously reported were determined not to be San Diego County residents and were removed from the list.
  • Nine new COVID-19 deaths were reported on April 10.
  • Five men and four women died between January 28 and April 9.
  • Of the people who died, four were in their 80s or older, two were in their 70s, one was in their 60s and two were in their 50s.
  • Eight had underlying medical conditions and one did not.
  • 14 new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on 9 April.
  • Twelve men and two women died between January 1 and April 8.
  • Of the people who died, seven were in their 80s or older, two were in their 70s, two were in their 60s, two were in their 50s and one was in their 30s.
  • 12 had underlying medical conditions and two completed medical history.
