Here is today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data to February 15, 2021.
State statistics:
- San Diego County’s calculated, adjusted case rate is currently 22.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the region is in Purple Tier or Tier 1.
- The test positivity percentage is 6.4%, which places the province in Tier 2 or the Red Tier. Although the test positivity rate for the county qualifies it for the Red Tiger, the state uses the most restrictive measure – in this case the adjusted rate – and allocates provinces to that level. Therefore, the county remains in the Purple Tier or Tier 1.
- The county’s benchmark for health equality, which looks at the positive testing of areas with the lowest healthy conditions, is 9.7% and it is in the Purple Tier of Tier 1. a less restrictive level.
- The California Department of Public Health reviews provinces weekly. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd.
Community Institutions:
- No new community outbreaks were confirmed on February 15.
- One community outbreak was confirmed on February 14 in a business area.
- Eight community outbreaks were confirmed on February 13: three in distribution warehouse settings, one in a business environment, one in an emergency services environment, one in a food / beverage processing environment, one in government and one in a social club.
- Seven community outbreaks were confirmed on February 12: five in businesses, one in a healthcare setting and one in a TC-12 school setting.
- In the past seven days (February 9 to February 15), 49 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
- The number of community outbreaks remains within seven days above the trigger of seven or more.
- An outbreak in a community over the past 14 days is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases in an area and in people from different households.
Test:
- 9,125 tests were reported to the province on 15 February, and the percentage of new positive cases was 8%.
- The current average percentage of positive cases of 14 days is 5.6%. The target is less than 8.0%.
- The daily average of 7 days, is 16,071.
- People at higher risk for COVID-19 who are with or without symptoms should be tested. People with any symptoms should be tested. Healthcare and essential workers should also get a test, as well as people who have now had contact with a positive cause or live in communities that are severely affected. Those who have recently returned from their trip are also requested to be tested.
Cases, hospitalizations and recordings of ICUs:
- 698 cases were reported to the County on February 15th. The total of the region is now 253,641.
- 12 162 or 4.8% of all cases required hospitalization.
- 1 555 or 0.6% of all cases and 12.8% of the hospital cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.
Deaths:
- Five new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on 15 February. The total of the region is now 3 042.
- Two women and three men died between December 20 and January 29.
- Of the five deaths reported today, one person who died was 80 years or older, two people were in their 70s and two people were in their 60s.
- All had underlying medical conditions.
- No new COVID-19 deaths were reported on February 14.
- Twenty-eight COVID-19 deaths were reported on February 13th. Twelve women and 16 men died between December 27 and February 12.
- Of the 28 deaths reported that day, 15 people who died were 80 years or older, eight people were in their 70s, four people were in their 60s and one person was in their 50s.
- Twenty-six had underlying medical conditions and two have medical history.
- Thirty COVID-19 deaths were reported on February 12th. Thirteen women and 17 men died between August 14 and February 12.
- Of the 30 new deaths reported that day, 16 people died were 80 years or older, three people were in their 70s, five people were in their 60s, three people were in their 50s, two people were in their 40s and one person was in their thirties.
- All had underlying medical conditions.
