Here is today the COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data to February 9, 2021.

State statistics:

  • San Diego County’s calculated, adjusted case rate is currently 34.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the region is in Purple Tier or Tier 1.
  • The test positivity percentage is 9.1%, which places the county in level 1 or the purple level.
  • The county’s benchmark for health equality, which looks at the positive testing of areas with the lowest healthy conditions, is 12.1% and it is in the Purple Tier of Tier 1. a less restrictive level.
  • The California Department of Public Health reviews provinces weekly. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16th.

Community Institutions:

  • Nine community outbreaks were confirmed on February 9: four in business environments, two in construction institutions, one in a faith-based agency, one in government and one in retail.
  • In the past seven days (February 3 to 9), 70 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
  • The number of community outbreaks remains within seven days above the trigger of seven or more.
  • An outbreak in a community over the past 14 days is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases in an area and in people from different households.

Test:

  • On February 9, 19,461 tests were reported to the province, and the percentage of new positive cases was 4%.
  • The current average percentage of positive cases of 14 days is 6.5%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The daily average of 7 days is 18,772.
  • People at higher risk for COVID-19 who are with or without symptoms should be tested. People with any symptoms should be tested. Healthcare and essential workers should also get a test, as well as people who have had close contact with a positive cause or live in communities that are greatly affected. Those who have recently returned from their trip are also requested to be tested.

Cases, hospitalizations and recordings of ICUs:

  • 810 cases were reported to the county on February 9th. The total of the region is now 248,861.
  • 11,011 or 4.4% of all cases required hospitalization.
  • 1 529 or 0.6% of all cases and 13.9% of hospital cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • There were 51 COVID-19 deaths reported on February 9th. The region’s total is 2,904.
  • Sixteen women and 35 men died between January 9 and February 8.
  • Of the 51 new deaths reported today, 17 people who died were 80 years or older, 12 people were in their 70s, 12 people were in their 60s, eight people were in their 50s and two people were in their 40s.
  • Forty-eight had underlying medical conditions, one not and two’s medical history pending.
