Here is today the COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through December 27th.

ICU capacity and stay at home order:

  • The current ICU capacity for the Southern California region is now 0.0% and will be updated daily by the state.
  • The Regional home order remain in force and prohibit meetings of any size with people from other households and add restrictions for various sectors.
  • The order remains in force until the ICU capacity of the region reaches or exceeds 15%.

Community Institutions:

  • No new community outbreaks were confirmed on December 27.
  • Ten new community outbreaks were confirmed on December 26: six in business establishments, two in health care establishments, one in an emergency services environment and one in a community-based organization.
  • Nine new community outbreaks were confirmed on December 25: four in business establishments, two in health care establishments, two in faith-based establishments and one in a distribution warehouse.
  • Fourteen new community outbreaks were confirmed on December 24: three in business settings, three in health care settings, three in faith-based settings, one in a day care / preschool / child care setting, one in a preschool setting, one in a distribution warehouse setting, one in a restaurant and one in a hotel / resort / spa area.
  • In the last seven days (December 21-27), 59 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
  • The number of community outbreaks remains within seven days above the trigger of seven or more.
  • An outbreak in a community over the past 14 days is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases in an area and in people from different households.

Test:

  • 18,972 tests were reported to the province on 27 December and the percentage of new cases confirmed by laboratory was 9%.
  • The current average percentage of positive cases of 14 days is 10.4%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The daily average of 7 days is 23,668.
  • People at higher risk for COVID-19 who are with or without symptoms should be tested. People with any symptoms should be tested. Healthcare and emergency workers should also get a test, as well as people who have now had contact with a positive cause or live in communities that are severely affected. Those who have recently returned from their trip, or who have participated in holiday gatherings, are also requested to be tested.

Incidents:

  • 1,271 new cases were reported to the County on Dec. 27. The total of the region is now 147,530.
  • 5,743 or 3.9% of all cases required hospitalization.
  • 1,201 or 0.8% of all cases and 20.9% of the hospital cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • Two new COVID-19 deaths were reported to the county on Dec. 27. The region’s total is now 1,404.
  • Two men died between December 20 and December 21 and their ages ranged from mid-30s to late 60s.
  • Both had underlying medical conditions.
  • Twenty new COVID-19 deaths were reported to the County on Dec. 24.
  • Six women and 14 men died between December 18 and December 24, and their ages ranged from mid-50s to mid-90s.
  • Seventeen had underlying medical conditions and one did not. Two have medical history pending.
