A San Antonio target is one of 17 in the country selected for a new partnership with Apple to provide an “innovative new shopping experience,” the store said in a news release Thursday.

The target at 18255 Blanco Road will increase the floor space for the Apple screen and be home to all the latest products, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods, HomePods and Apple TV. In addition, Target consultants will be trained by Apple, the news release reads.

Target officials said the tech company’s products are popular with retailers and they hope the collaboration will make the retail giant a destination for electronics.

Four other Texas Targets in Allen, Austin, Hurst and Irving were also selected for the Apple Experience.

Target officials said there are a number of factors used in choosing the first 17 stores, but it has not been expanded. The retailer plans to use the 17 stores as a guideline for future implementation. More locations are expected to open in the fall, the news release said.

Target has also launched an online Apple Experience and Target RedCard holders are getting a 5 percent discount on all Apple products and free two-day shipping.

The retailer said the local Target Apple Experience should open soon, but no date has been set.

Apple has two San Antonio stores at La Cantera and the North Star Mall, but both have been closed for in-store shopping in response to the pandemic.
