Samurai Warriors 5 Oichi and Azai Nagamasa Redesigns Revealed

Cow Tecmo revealed what two veteran characters look like Samurai Warriors 5, Oichi and Azai Nagamasa. The upcoming title uses a Japanese painting aesthetic for the redesign of the character. Samurai Warriors 5 begins on July 27, 2021 in the West.

According to Koei Tecmo’s website, the company previously featured nine characters in the game. With Oichi and Azai Nagamasa’s announcements in Samurai Warriors 5, which brings the list of known fighters to 11. The base game will reportedly have 27 warriors, so we can expect Koei Tecmo to unveil more redesigns in the coming months leading up to the launch of the title. Officially unveiled in Nintendo Direct in February 2021, Samurai Warriors 5 and his characters such as Oichi and Azai Nagamasa have a new art direction based on Japanese painting techniques. The game is the first new mainline entry in the series since Samurai Warriors 4, in 2014. As for the story of the game, Samurai Warriors 5 will focus on Mitsuhide Akechi and Nobunaga Oda. The title will retell the events that led to the Honno-Ji incident during the Sengoku period from two different perspectives.

In addition, Koei Tecmo has collaborated with many IP containers to create series such as Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, en One Piece: Pirate Warriors. Cow Tecmo’s studios such as Team Ninja and Omega Force often develop these titles.

Samurai Warriors 5 will launch via Steam on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Japanese release date is June 24, 2021, while overseas territories will release the game one month later on July 27, 2021.
