Samsung’s new Galaxy SmartTag Plus is now available in the US to pre-order

Samsung first introduced the Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag Plus in January when they announced the Galaxy S21 series. The small device connects to Samsung’s SmartThings app and lets a Galaxy smartphone find that device or let the device find the Galaxy smartphone. The Galaxy SmartTag Plus is finally available to pre-order at B&H Photo in the US.

The Smart Tag Plus uses a combination of ‘UWB’ and Bluetooth 5.0 to enable AR tracking with the Galaxy phone when you are nearby. Battery life is also significantly shorter on the SmartTag Plus, which is rated for five months, while the standard SmartTag is rated for up to 300 days.

The new SmartTag Plus sells for $ 39 and is currently only available in black mode with orders shipped from April 12th. The standard one (review here) sells for $ 29 from Samsung’s website, but it can be found cheaper on Amazon in both black and “oatmeal” finishes.
