Samsung’s latest rugged tablet gets a Dex and WiFi 6 update

Samsung has also added its DeX software to this year’s Tab Active, allowing you to move the content to a larger screen and connect peripherals such as keyboards and mice for easier control. It is also the first Tab Active to support Galaxy Enterprise Edition and Knox Suite for security and other IT software.

I especially like that the S Pen that comes with this device was also built to withstand tougher conditions. It has a corrugated texture that keeps it easier to hold, and just like the tablet also complies with IP68. While not as pencil-like as the other styluses from Samsung, it still delivered a smooth writing experience while I twilight on screen.

Despite the extra amount, the Active 3 was surprisingly thin and light. The show was bright and clear. Like most of Samsung’s rugged devices, the Tab has a physical button below the screen (if held vertically) for easier interaction. But the company also said that it has set up the screen in a sensitive way so that you can also tap and wipe on it with gloves. There are also POGO pins on the side for workplaces that need the connection. For those who want to plug the tablet into a kiosk or a vehicle (or machines such as forklifts), there is also a battery-free mode available. On top of that, the 5.050mAh battery of the Active 3 is removable, so you can easily jump into a new cell when you run out of space, instead of having to wait until it recharges.

Since it’s a B2B device, you’re unlikely to be able to just go into a Best Buy and upload one – businesses will be able to get one through Samsung’s distribution channels and website. However, if you ask, the Tab Active 3 starts at $ 490 for WiFi models only and $ 590 for LTE versions.
