Samsung unveiled part of its 2021 TV series in January, including micro-LED and Neo QLED offerings. Today’s Unbox & Discover event brought even more models, including some for the artistic crowd and others for your back porch.
micro-LED
Samsung introduced its first micro-LED TV in 2018 – the huge 146 “TV (or larger, depending on the configuration) called The Wall. Now that the technology is obsolete, the company has prepared three models that are more suitable for your average home.
At the end of March, two micro-LED TVs will start – 110 “and 99” worldwide, followed by a smaller 88 “model coming in the fall. There is also a (not really) small 76” model on the card, but there is no concrete launch period.
The micro-LED TVs have 4Vue (quad view), which enables them to work as four smaller TVs displaying content from four independent sources simultaneously.
Neo QLED
Samsung has divided its Neo QLED series into two series – the 8K models (QN800A and QN900A) and the 4K models (QN90A and QN85A). The 8K units are available in 85 “, 75” and 65 “and cost you between $ 5,000 and $ 9,000. The 4K units start at 50” and range from $ 1,600 to $ 5,000.
Microsoft has selected Samsung as the official TV partner for the Xbox Series X in the US and Canada. To that end, Samsung has teamed up with AMD to create the first TVs with Freesync Premium Pro support for consoles and PCs. The Neo QLED TVs can operate at 120 fps with a response time of 5.8 ms.
The Super Ultrawide Gameview mode puts the TV in an ultra wide aspect ratio, similar to a game monitor. If you need finer control, the Game Bar feature allows you to adjust the aspect ratio, check the input delay, connect a wireless headset and more.
In addition to games, Samsung also considers these TVs to be practice tools – the Smart Trainer can use an optional camera (and AI) to analyze your posture and provide real-time feedback while watching instructional videos.
By the way, Microsoft said a few months ago that LG TVs are the best way to experience HDR games on the Xbox Series X.
The frame
The Frame TV has been improved. This artificial model is mounted on a donkey, but with the 2021 version you can use the Slim Fit Wall Mount (with five ring options) to hang it like a painting.
The new model has 6 GB of image memory (compared to 0.5 GB), so it can store 1200 photos in UHD quality. Samsung has partnered with NAVA Contemporary, Etsy and others to present a growing library of more than 1,400 artworks that you can display on The Frame. An AI will learn what kind of art you like and offer suggestions.
The terrace
The Terrace is Samsung’s first TV out. It is weatherproof with an IP55 rating to protect it from water and dust. It is available in 55 “and 65” sizes, plus the 75 “Full Sun model (intended for use in direct sunlight, it has a brighter panel).
The premiere
Not a TV, but the industry’s first triple laser projector with 4K resolution. It has a minimalist design with rounded edges and an exterior of material and it should be just 5 “off the wall. Samsung will be offering rollover screens for The Premiere later this year.
Interactive display
The Samsung Interactive Display FLIP 75 ”is a digital whiteboard. It can be used in offices and classrooms by students or teams up to 20 years. Previously, Samsung offered 85 “, 65” and 55 “models.
Sound
Samsung unveils 2021 Series Q-Sound Bar with Q-Symphony technology. The Q950A is the industry’s first 11.1.4 channel system and promises to deliver excellent three-dimensional sound. It also supports voice assistants, including Amazon Alexa and Samsung’s own Bixby.
