Samsung may launch flagship and mid-range Exynos chips with AMD GPUs sooner than expected

On paper, the Samsung Exynos 2100 has a better CPU than the Snapdragon 888. It has one Arm Cortex X1 core with clock speeds of up to 2.9 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 has a similar architecture but lower clock speeds.
The Snapdragon 888 features the Adreno 660 GPU, which according to the chipmaker is 35 percent faster and 20 percent more energy efficient than its predecessor. The Exynos 2100 has the Arm Mali G78 GPU, and while it it’s obviously an improvement over the Malyn G77 from Exynos 990, but it’s still not good enough to tackle the Adreno 660 GPU. This may change with Exynos 2100s and Exynos 1080’s successors.
AMD helps Samsung make mobile GPUs and during the unveiling of Exynos 2100, the president of the chaebol’s System LSI Business confirms that the “next flagship product” will include an AMD GPU. It was not entirely clear whether he was referring to the next flagship chip or the next premium phone, nor did he announce the launch date. Looks like we have all the answers now, thanks to a new tweet.

Earlier, the custom GPU was expected to make its debut in 2022. It now appears that the two companies are working ahead of time, as Ice Universe, which is provoking, claims that Samsung is releasing AMD GPUs this year. The plan is apparently to make an announcement by the second or third term.

While the tweet about specific details is thin, it looks like we’ll be seeing the next Exynos 2xxx and Exynos 1xxx chips sooner than expected, and it’s leaving us wondering if Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, presumably the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and not the Galaxy Note 21 will have a new premium SoC under the hood.
The next flagship silicone from Samsung is apparently known internationally as the Exynos 9925 and besides, nothing else is known about it.
As for the AMD GPUs, the expectations are quite high, as leaked benchmark results indicate that they will do so outperforms Adreno GPUs.
