Samsung debuted One UI 3.1 with its Galaxy S21 series, but recently committed to bringing it to other Galaxy devices, including the Z Fold2. Although the feature set is largely similar on devices, the foldable phone still gets a few tweaks that conform to its unique form factor.
The first few improvements are related to multitasking – welcome additions to make the most of the internal size of the tablet size. It will now be possible to return directly to three previously opened multi-active windows via the recent apps menu on the main screen and up to two on the cover screen. There’s also a new way to launch multi-active windows – simply press, drag and drop a notification.
Accessibility has also been improved in the Flex mode of the camera app; the position of the camera control is now adjustable. The preview window also gets delete and share buttons, making it easier to manage photos and videos.
What’s more, the notifications in the Quick Panel are categorized, and the weather widgets on the front page and main screens are synchronized (a bit absurd that it was not yet). There are also some visual adjustments to the UI that include a redesigned vertical volume slider, updated light and dark themes, and a slightly updated interface for video calls.
The update is already underway. If you have not yet received it, you should check it manually Settings> About device> Software update. Samsung does not mention the OG fold, so it is possible that these features do not amount to it.
