Samsung accidentally uses iPhone to tweet Galaxy Unpacked promotion

Samsung committed a technical faux pas on Wednesday when it released a promotional tweet from an iPhone, the flagship device made by an arch-enemy of a smartphone market.

The South Korean technology giant mailed a preview of the upcoming hardware meeting for a Twitter account hosted by Samsung Mobile’s US division.

“As #SamsungUpack approaches, we’re working hard to bring you exciting news. What area of innovation and progress do you hope to see us reveal?” Ask Samsung in the tweet.

An innocent message, it was the delivery mode of the tweet that caused a bit of a stir online. Whoever posted the short mission on Samsung’s account used an iPhone, an almost unforgivable offense in the eyes of the die-hard fans.

Trade ambassadors for a number of major smartphone manufacturers have been caught on several occasions offering products and services from the iPhone, but the slippage of industry officials is a rarity. In 2013, for example, tennis star David Ferrer used his iPhone to send a song of praise over his Galaxy S4. In the same year, John Tere, former CEO of T-Mobile, glorified the Galaxy Note 3, but did so from the iPhone.

More recently, Ksenia Sobchak, who was paid to endorse Samsung products, was allegedly sued by the company in 2018 for using an iPhone X in public.

Samsung is expected to launch new Galaxy S21 models at the Unpacked event on January 14th. The high-end smartphones are predicted to include 6.7-inch and 6.8-inch OLED screens, S-Pen support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC or Exynos 2100 from Samsung. SoCs and other premium components in an effort to compete with Apple’s iPhone 12 series.
