New York Jets full-back Sam Darnold has been thrown around as a possible solution to the Chicago Bears’ quarterfinal impression. But according to recent reports, maybe not as many expected.
According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the connection between Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and Darnold could be an interesting development in the Russell Wilson rumor mill.
Carroll is said to have a big opinion of Darnold, and the Seahawks could trade for him should they decide to join Wilson with an excessive Bears team running out of options at quarterback.
“Watch Seattle for Darnold,” one source said New York Daily News.
There was apparently tension between Wilson and Carroll, which led to trade speculation. It has since been excited with the Bears, a team desperate for a franchise quarterback who apparently throws everything they have at the Seahawks to land Wilson.
The only thing that could hinder Seattle from pulling the trigger and trading their franchise quarterback is the lack of a quarterback. Darnold may end up being the solution, especially since he is someone who values Carroll highly.
“I think he’s really talented without a doubt,” Carroll told reporters about Darnold in December. He had big throws in him. He’s a real quarterback. He sees things. He makes great plays and big throws in difficult situations because of his talent. It’s just a matter of time. Sam is going to be a very big QB. He threw a lot of balls in three years. He had a lot of experience. It will bear fruit in the long run. ”
We’ll see if that has an effect on Seattle’s plans to trade Wilson, possibly in Chicago, where things could definitely heat up with the Bears no longer having options this season.
