Ryan Stamper, Ohio, leaves OSU for Urban Meyer’s staff at JAX

That was the question and concern at all after Urban Meyer, the former Ohio head coach, accepted the head coach position at the Jacksonville Jaguars. Would Meyer take any of the current OSU staff to harness his efforts to make the world NFL dominance in JAX?

It appears that Meyer does not believe it is in his or Ohio State’s best interests, but he did pull the trigger with one current staff member, Ryan Stamper. Stamper holds the position of assistant athletic director of player development in Columbus, but plays for Meyer in Florida as a two-time captain and wins national titles in 2006 and 2008.

After a brief soccer tournament, Stamper was hired to Ohio State in 2012 where he has been ever since. He helps lead the “Real-Life Wednesday” and other initiatives designed to help the athlete holistically balance football and life off the field. His loss is greatly underestimated, but it appears to be the only staff that will take OSU from Meyers’f’s relapse to coaching. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was the first to report the news.

Stamper is a resident of Jacksonville, so it’s also an opportunity to come home. It’s hard to blame someone for that and we wish him the best.
