Ryan Reynolds pays tribute to Alex Trebek after performing one of his last ‘Jeopardy!’ episodes

Ryan Reynolds paid tribute to Alex Trebek after appearing in one of the last games of ‘Jeopardy!’ he offered.

Trebek died in November at the age of 80 after a long and very public battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. However, before his death, he recorded several programs that will be broadcast this week.

Reynolds appeared on Monday’s episode of the popular game program for a short cameo to ask a question about his movie “Free Guy.”

“I’m Ryan Reynolds. In my movie, Free Guy in 2020, I play a bank narrator who realizes he’s really an NPC, lacks that kind of character,” Reynolds said during his video como in the program.

After the broadcast, Reynolds took to Twitter to once again honor his fellow Canadian fame and note how “heartbreaking” it is to share the screen with him for the last time.

“It’s an honor (and a little heartbreaking) to be one last time with #AlexTrebek on @Jeopardy,” said the “Deadpool” star, and add a Canadian flag emoji.

‘Free Guy’ has a special meaning for Reynolds’ relationship with Trebek, as the host agreed to film a cameo in the film before his death.

When the news broke that Trebek had passed away, Reynolds was one of the first to take to Twitter to share his thoughts on the TV legend.

“Despite his struggle last year, Alex Trebek was kind enough to make a film for our film ‘Free Guy’. He was gracious and funny,” the actor wrote at the time. “In addition to being curious, dependable, generous, reassuring and of course Canadian. We love you, Alex. And will always do so.”

Trebek’s last week of programs would originally air on Christmas Week; two categories of clues on Monday were ‘December 21’ and ‘Christmas on Broadway’. But to give Trebek’s last week a bigger exposure, “Jeopardy!” postpone them until this week.
