Russo Brothers directed ‘Fortnite’ Chapter 2’s season 6 opening direction

Anthony and Joe Russo are big fans of “Fortnite” – and the filmmakers, known for their blockbuster films Marvel, led the film opener for the popular Battle Royale game’s latest episode with Epic Games.

Epic on Tuesday unveiled ‘Fortnite’ Chapter 2 Season 6: Primal, which the company says is the most story-driven event it’s ever produced for the game.

Anthony and Joe Russo, in a statement to Variety, said, ‘It was fantastic to work with the team at Epic. Fortnite has a unique place in pop culture, and we think Donald Mustard [Epic’s chief creative officer] is a visionary storyteller who continues to take us all to uncharted territory. ”

The duo are behind major Marvel movies, including “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” and recently helped “Cherry” for Apple TV Plus.

Epic’s Mustard said the Russos and their team worked with the game’s developers to write, narrate and direct not only the opening art but also much of the character set in Chapter 2, Season 6. .

“The Zero Crisis Final is a decisive moment for what comes next in the island’s evolving experience and Chapter 2 in the game,” Mustard said. “When we set out the story for season 5 and season 6, we wanted to tell it in a real and character-driven way, and we knew no one was better at helping us do it then the Russians.”

The Russo Brothers’ three-minute film intro shows Agent Jones descending to the island and then fighting through various characters – from different story universes – to reach a massive glowing sphere. Eventually, he is met by a cyborg-like character, The Foundation, who agrees to help him on his mission.

This is not the first time Epic and the Russo Brothers have collaborated. In 2018, they reached Epic’s Mustard and proposed the idea for the ‘Fortnite’ – ‘Infinity War’ crossover event.

The new Fortnite season opener is a solo mission event, allowing you to play Agent Jones’ mission in the Zero Crisis Finals. The new season takes place after Chapter 2 Season 5, in which Agent Jones brought the best hunters from various realities – including the Mandalorian, Ripley and the Xenomorph of ‘Alien’, the Predator, Michonne and Daryl of ‘The Walking Dead’ and others – to the island to prevent anyone from escaping the Loop.

Here’s the setup: In the game’s Chapter 2 Season 6, reality collapsed in the process of containing the Zero Point, leading to a Primal biome where modern lifestyles no longer exist. In the center of the “Fortnite” map is a towering stone peak and a new patchwork town that surrounds it, from which are other oversized attractions such as Boney Burbs and Colossal Crops.

For the first time, animals appear on the island, including frogs, chickens, wolves and wild pigs. In the new season, players can use interactive items to make weapons. Epic Games also says that Brazilian soccer star Neymar will make an appearance at some point.
