Where there is smoke, there is fire, as they say regarding NFL rumors. And when it comes to Russell Wilson and Seattle Seahawks, the smoke just keeps going. Weeks after Jason La Canfora, an insider from the CBS Sports NFL, first indicated that Wilson could try to cut Seattle out, and a few days after the quarterback’s own agent made preferential landings, reports ESPN’s Dianna Russini , that the Seahawks start making and submitting trade calls with respect to Wilson, who unfortunately lives in Seattle.

Seattle is not actively buying star QB, Russini said Thursday, “but calls from other teams who inquired have been answered.” Not only that, she told the “Pat McAfee Show” but the Seahawks made their own calls regarding the QB.

“It’s a real thing where Russell Wilson is not happy there,” Russini said. “His agent will deny that they are demanding a trade … (but) I know that calls have been made on both sides, to Seattle and from Seattle to other teams.”

It comes on the heels of various reports about Wilson’s unrest in Seattle. The team reportedly saw an increase in inquiries from other teams after the QB told several media outlets in February that it was frustrated with the attack on the club and that it wanted more say in staff decisions. Meanwhile, The Athletic reported late last month that Wilson and the Seahawks had been increasingly at odds over the past few years, and the QB even allegedly stormed out of a meeting with staff about his role and the team’s attacking strategy.

Seattle to grant Wilson’s unofficial desire for fresh scenery would be an unprecedented step for a permanent playoff game with a franchise QB. But that would fit into a 2021 off-season jam-packed with signal-caller drama.
