Russell Wilson got his way with no teams other than the Seahawks

Oh, how did the turntables turn.

It barely feels like three weeks ago, when Russell Wilson’s excuse for a agent indicated that he has a trade option shortlist.

It’s the NFL equivalent of saying, “I like going out with you, and I want to keep going out with you, but if any of these other four people are interested, I’ll leave.” It honestly feels like Mark Rodgers is half bored and half drunk like anything else, but that put the captain on the most incoherent off-season with the franchise QB this fanbase has seen so far.

There is possibly a lot of good news out of this fiasco.

First, a reminder: How did Wilson’s light-hearted attempts at an open relationship fare?

  • Dallas Cowboys: Roof Prescott re-signed 10 days later
  • New Orleans Saints: re-signed Taysom Hill and gave Jameis Winston one of their trendy one-year contracts: “if you start and play well, you make a lot of money” contracts
  • Las Oakland Raiders of Vegas: do not want a good quarter, AND just want a defensive line because they have signed two good DLs and moved on from two good OLs.
  • Chicago Bears: The current report is that they offered three firsts, one third and two beginners. It’s about 40% better than what Seattle gave up on getting Jamal Adams, so in other words no.

I do not know what happened to Russell Wilson this year. I have said before that he gives his voice in various fields (leadership, public sphere, out-of-season firestorm initiator) one step further, it is very uncomfortable. I think he wanted to make some wishes more public, mention well-deserved emotional concerns, and it went badly. On both sides.

However, it could not have been much clearer that the rest of the NFL had no interest in giving up the farm for Wilson. The silver lining here is that I hope it helps if Wilson’s ego did indeed blame the group for an off – season. He made soft demands last year (superstars) and the Seahawks got one … in defense. He made his demands bigger and harder this year, and Seattle became … quiet.

However, only one significant trade report has been released in the past month, and that’s not great. The other teams suited for inferior situations, some bad. Meanwhile, the Seahawks actually gave one of their four attractions for a reliable linebacker, because the two options have greater need.

On the inside, it’s easy to let it pile up slightly until the resentment towards colleagues or superiors is hard to see through. But it will be hard to miss this one. For what it’s worth, he seems to have noticed.

Seattle continues to treat Wilson well – at least try it. Who knows; we’ve been here before, it’s said before, and John Schneider has judged a linebacker badly. But hey, in their own way, it seems like they’re on their way to repairing the relationship in their business. At this point, I want to put Wilson on his normal workout and, as always, show up at work this year.

Crisis averted, at least for now?
