This, of course, made fans wonder if Kevin would leave the show.
Initially, Yellowstone fans were afraid that Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes, who play Beth and Kayce Dutton, would be written off after the final bomb’s season 3. But now all eyes are on the Dutton’s patriarch, played by Kevin Costner.
The final few moments in the final episode of season 3, which aired last August, show all three Dutton’s being attacked: a bomb exploded in Beth’s office, gunmen stormed Kayce’s office, and John was shot while he helped someone along the way. The episode ended without any conclusion, and fans feared that some or all of the Duttons would not make it live. Despite the speculation, it was unlikely that any (or all) of these three characters from the series would be killed, especially since it appears the Duttons are just going on.
In a recent interview on Good day New York, Kevin raised the question and admitted that he could not reveal the fate of John Dutton: “I can not say. There’s an ending you’ll see, hopefully it’s a powerful one for you. ‘ He then explained that he likes to “make things and be part of things that have a dramatic arc.” His advice to Yellowstone fans: “Just try to enjoy it to the end if you can.”
This statement did not exactly help to put the fan at ease. Shortly afterwards, the internet broke out with even more speculation that Kevin would leave the program. Some, like this Twitter user, even said they heard a rumor that he may have been fired Yellowstone. In the weeks leading up to this interview, Gossip Police reported that there were rumors that the actor was unhappy that he had to uproot his family to Montana to film the show’s fourth season. Kevin’s spokesman later confirmed Gossip Police of which the actor is “very proud” Yellowstone, “and there is no truth to these rumors.
Even when Good Housekeeping caught Kevin in the middle of Yellowstone season 3 he confirms that he is ready to go to work on the fourth season. He even shared a photo of himself on Instagram while filming season 4 in October.
He did say that the coming season would be more difficult for him as he would be longer from his family. “It puts me away from home. I go home every moment,” he told us. “But this year we’re filming exclusively in Montana, which makes going home almost impossible.”
But still, we think Yellowstone fans can rest assured that Kevin is here to stay! Let’s just hope John Dutton has been through all six seasons of the show.
