A new rumor making the rounds online suggests that Square Enix might rather send Final Fantasy 7 Remake to new platforms.
One of PlayStation’s most shocking E3 surprises was the announcement of the long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Remake, with the game being pushed as one of the PS4’s biggest exclusive titles. After a long development cycle, Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched last year as an exclusive PS4 game, which is one of the best PS4 exclusives released in all of 2020. However, a new rumor suggests that the PS4 exclusivity of the game may soon come to an end.
Industry insider KatharsisT has suggested that Square Enix will announce Final Fantasy 7 Remake ports at some point later this year. Apparently, Final Fantasy 7 Remake comes to PC and PlayStation 5, with the PS5 version not too far off. It has long been expected that Final Fantasy 7 RemakePS4 exclusivity would be limited, though KatharsisT made no mention of the game coming to any of PlayStation’s rival consoles.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will never remain permanently exclusive to the PS4, so it’s not so surprising that there’s rumble of PC and PS5 ports. After all, April will be one year since Final Fantasy 7 Remakeits launch, and these exclusivity agreements often last about a year. Thanks to the PlayStation 5 PS4 backward compatibility, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and a multitude of others VF titles are available on Sony’s next generation console right outside the gate. However, it will still be nice to see an upgraded version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake it takes full advantage of the capabilities of the PlayStation 5.
