Rumor Roundup: WWE Schedule Cuts, NXT Calls, Royal Rumble Changes

Speculation about the rumors surrounding pro-wrestling is a popular pastime for many fans, perhaps the second to watch the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors expressed by the pro-wrestling backstory.

Rumors for the day:

  • PW Insider noted that within WWE, there is some fear of roster reductions in the wake of WWE’s earnings report. It’s unknown if the releases of Lars Sullivan and Steve Cutler are the start of a new series of tracks.

  • On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer indicated that NXT wrestlers Karrion Kross and Austin Theory are ‘being taken care of for the main roster’.
  • He also said that Shaquille O’Neal is not struggling at AEW Revolution on March 7 because the date is in violation of the NBA All-Star Game. Therefore, Shaq would rather wrestle over the March 3 episode of AEW Dynamics.
  • Per Meltzer, Angel Garza was supposed to be in the Royal Rumble match, but was pulled from it. Meanwhile, Fightful declares that Toni Storm was the replacement for Mia Yim in the Royal Rumble, and that Kacy Catanzaro was on standby just in case she needed it.
  • According to Ringside News, Murphy and Bo Dallas are appearing on television, but “they were not given anything to do.”
