Rudy Gay, Patty Mills responds to the departure of LaMarcus Aldridge

LaMarcus Aldridge’s time at the San Antonio Spurs may not have been as successful as he would have liked, but he undoubtedly had a huge impact on the city, the team and his teammates.

Following the news of his impending retirement from the Spurs, his teammates Rudy Gay and Patty Mills made sure they were all reminded of how big and influential he is for the organization. While it may be a sad ending, Gay noted that the veteran big man still needs to be celebrated.

‘He did some really good things as a Spur, and I think it’s time to celebrate what he did. You can not forget what LaMarcus did here, ” Gay said of his Spurs team-mate, who he also called his good ‘friend’, according to Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express News.

Mills, for his part, wished Aldridge nothing but the best and expressed hope that his next team after the Spurs would give the forward the chance to compete for the title.

“He is especially respected with this group and especially every team he has played for. As a teammate, you wish him the best and hope that the next chapter in his journey will work out for him. He’s a hell of a player, a hell of a pro … ‘, Mills added.

It’s still unknown where LaMarcus Aldridge will end up, but it looks like fans will not have to wait long to know. Since Gregg Popovich himself made the news, it is likely that they are already engaged in significant trade talks for the forward.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Spurs are confident they will be able to find a suitable partner and trade returns for the 35-year-old within the next week.
