Members of the royal family sent private messages to Piers Morgan, thanking him for standing up for them after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s damning TV story broke.
Morgan quickly became one of the couple’s most outspoken critics – even quitting his job as host of ‘Good Morning Britain’ rather than apologizing.
Since then, he has “had a lot of support from a lot of people” – including the royals he strongly defended, Morgan told “Extra”.
“Some messages have been sent to me, on behalf of several members of the royal family who were grateful … that someone stood up for it,” said the 56-year-old former judge of ‘America’s Got Talent’.
However, he remained pleased when asked if it contained messages from ‘people at the higher level’, saying: ‘Well, I’m not going to who it was.’
The support also came to his own family, even though his sons received death threats from ‘so-called liberals’ who were ‘driven by an online crowd’.
“My wife has always been completely supportive of this, but she hates online abuse,” he said, calling the threats to his sons “completely disgusting”.
Morgan boasts of remaining “resolutely without cancellation”, and he would also like to conduct his own follow-up interview with Meghan and Harry to confront them about their most damaging claims on Oprah Winfrey.
“I would say to Meghan Markle, ‘Look, sit down with my husband for an equally lengthy interview, and let me ask harder questions about all your allegations,'” Morgan told Billy Bush.
” But let me ask you a broader question: this is: if you hate the royal family so much … why do you hold royal titles? ” He said about the couple who are still known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
‘Why would you do that if you did not just want to earn millions and millions of dollars? And to play the victim like you is nauseous, ”he said.
Morgan has angrily defended himself against accusations that his attacks on Markle are racist. He pointed out that he was just as critical of Harry “and last time I made sure he was white.”
“I find this narrative very offensive,” he said.
