Royal Caribbean has just announced a new collection of seven-night summer cruises to the Bahamas and Mexico, but do not consider booking a spot unless you plan to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The mega-cruise line has recently been working on vaccine mandates. In February, a Royal Caribbean spokesman told Insider he would expect his crew members to receive the vaccine before the voyages return. And earlier this month, the company expanded this requirement by announcing its first “fully vaccinated” crew and guest cruise from Israel.

Now Royal Caribbean is applying the same protocol to the newly announced collection of summer cruises: all adult passengers must be vaccinated against COVID-19, while guests under 18 must test negative for the virus.

“The vaccines are clearly a game changer for all of us, and because the number of vaccinations and their impact is growing rapidly, we believe it is the right choice to embark on a journey for vaccinated adult guests and crew,” said Michael Bayley, president. and CEO of Royal. Caribbean International, said in the press release. “As we move forward, we expect this requirement and that other measures will inevitably evolve over time.”

This new series of ‘fully vaccinated’ voyages will sail from June 12 from the cruise line’s new home port in Nassau, Bahamas, on the Adventure of the Seas ship. The cruise will then hit islands like the Grand Bahama, Cozumel, Mexico and Royal Caribbean’s perfect day on CocoCay Island. The latter is filled with hot weather facilities such as a water park, beach club and freshwater lagoon, all run by a vaccinated crew.

“I am particularly pleased that Royal Caribbean … has chosen the Bahamas as a home when resumed,” Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert Minnis said in a press release. “Sailing is an important part of the Bahamas’ economy and returning Royal Caribbean and its guests to our shores will greatly contribute to the recovery and reactivity of tourism.”

Guests will also need to comply with the country’s travel requirements, which include presenting a negative PCR test before traveling and retesting after arrival.

Royal Caribbean is just one of the several crossroads that have made the vaccination of COVID-19 mandatory for guests, crew or both. Last Wednesday, Carnival Corp.’s P&O cruises similarly announced a collection during the summer that will sail along the British coast, only available to vaccinated UK residents.
