Taylor Heinicke believes he proved on Saturday night that he can be an NFL fullback, but Washington is not determined about anything on the post.

Head coach Ron Rivera met with the media on Sunday to conclude the 2020 season and look forward to the 2021 campaign. Rivera said he plans to meet with team owner Daniel Snyder on Sunday or Monday to discuss plans for the off-season.

The quarterback position will be on the agenda. Rivera said via Kyle Stackpole of the team’s website that setting up the plan for the position ‘is one of the most important things that we have to get by and become established ”this off-season.

Heinicke was the fourth fullback to start a game for the team. Starting starter Dwayne Haskins has been released, Kyle Allen is recovering from a dislocated ankle and Alex Smith is missing three of the last four games with a calf injury. Smith remains under contract after having a remarkable return from his serious leg injury, but his salary is not guaranteed, and Rivera said Smith is’really the only person who knows ”if he will continue to play.

Whatever Smith’s call is, there will likely be a move to the position if the team is confident about what lies ahead at the start of the 2021 season.
