Rockstar pays $ 10,000 to the mud that fixed the ridiculous loading times of GTA Online

Grand Theft Auto V’s charging time is ridiculous. This applies to GTA V properly, and it applies extra to GTA Online. One mud has discovered a way to reduce charging times by 70%, and it looks like Rockstar has taken notice – luckily it’s not just putting off that particular mod. Instead, the loading time solution is officially implemented in an upcoming patch.

In the most basic terms, t0st reported that there is a one-time CPU bottleneck when GTA Online starts loading, and the game spends the ages to read redundant information from a JSON file that has little reason to exist not. In its original findings, t0st writes: “If it reaches Rockstar somehow: the problems should not last more than a day before a single developer solves. Please do something about it. ‘

In a new update to the message, t0st says he was “only awarded $ 10k” by Rockstar’s bug-bounty program, which is normally only used for major security issues. t0st adds that ‘I tried to ask for more technical details, but they could not say anything.’

Rockstar itself tells PC Gamer that ‘after a thorough investigation we can confirm that the player first revealed an aspect of the game code related to loading times for the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved. As a result of these investigations, we’ve made some changes that will be implemented in an upcoming title update. ”

That $ 10,000 will probably be better spent than any GTA Online money, but for those of us who see it unfolding, there is still no word on when the official solution will be implemented.
