Rockstar Games mailing lists thrilled Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 fans

Both have a new mailing list from Rockstar Games Red Dead online and GTA Online players on the console, and especially PC, excited. Fraud is a big problem that plagues both GTA Online and Red Dead online. And so far, Rockstar Games has not done much to fix this issue, other than banning players in waves. However, it sounds like it’s changing, which means that both online experiences for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 should be much more pleasant soon.

Over on Twitter, Rockstar Intel Author VideoTech transferred from a new Rockstar Games mailing list for Associate Cheat Operations Analyst. From the title itself, it seems natural that this position will be aimed at combating fraudsters and hackers, and the text of the mailing list reinforces this, noting that one responsibility that applicants can expect is to pay cheats and file reports regarding them find.

“This role involves monitoring multiple sources of information to identify fraudsters and online mods for our titles and take appropriate action on the information,” reads the “what we do” section of the mailing list. “The team is an important part of our efforts to protect the online gaming experience of our titles and deal with complex cheating issues on a daily basis.”

Of course, it remains to be seen whether this is part of a larger initiative to improve the anti-cheat for both games. On paper, this postal application is promising, but without more context, it is difficult to know whether it will result.

Almost every online game with competitive elements is plagued by fraudsters and hackers. And it is not so easy to fight these scammers and hackers. That said, some games do it better than others, and Red Dead online and GTA Online is definitely not one of those games.
