The Super Bowl is approaching, and Rocket League developer Psyonix has decided to bring its own version of the big game to the competitive motorsport game. On February 2 Rocket League players can try a brand new game mode called Gridiron. The event runs through Feb. 8 and features challenges for the event and an NFL Fan Pack in store.
Gridiron turns the soccer field into a soccer field. It’s a four-on-four game with real American football on the field instead of a boring soccer ball. When you touch the soccer ball, it is attached to the roof of your car, making the car the ball carrier. Anyone who touches the ball becomes the ball carrier, which means that players can set a cool pass to a team, or that a bad boy can steal the football from your car.
You can also pass the ball by dodging, but double jumping will drop the beam on top of the car. That sounds like a great time for all your sports heads out there. Rocket League played for free in the summer of 2020 and is available on consoles and the Epic Games Store. The full set of rules, along with details of the event, are available on Psyonix’s website.
