Rocket fired for the 2nd night in a row from Gaza to Israel; IDF hits Hamas sites

Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket at Israel on Friday night, the Israeli army said.

According to media reports, the rocket ended up in Israeli territory, but in an uninhabited area. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The rocket caused warning sirens in the southern Gaza border communities of Holit and Sde Avraham, hours after the start of the Shabbat.

In response, Israeli planes hit a series of Hamas targets in Gaza, the IDF said.

Among the targets bombed were a Hamas training camp, an air defense position built and a cement factory to use for the construction of attack tunnels.

The military has said it is holding Hamas accountable for all violence in the Strip.

The launch came a day after a rocket fired by Gaza-based terrorists hit a field northeast of the strip. In response, IDF planes hit targets linked to the Hamas terrorist group, which rules Gaza.

According to the IDF, there was, among other things, a weapons production facility, a tunnel for smuggling weapons and a Hamas military post.

The attacks have taken place in recent months during violent violence in the Gaza Strip amid a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and as Gaza struggles with the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, a rocket was fired at Beersheba when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stopped a campaign in the southern city ahead of the March 23 election.
