Robin Thicke reflects on Paula Patton split and abuses painkillers: ‘I was in a bad place’

Robin Thicke becomes candid about his previous fight.

In an interview with People magazine, Thicke opened his latest album ‘On Earth, and in Heaven’ and how the album was born out of his love for his children and the people around him.

“In some ways, I’ve never been happier,” the 43-year-old singer told the outlet. “In many ways I think I’ve never been so happy. This album is a testament to all the love in my life and the people who have found me here.”

Thicke’s latest album comes at a time of great gripping for the singer, who faces a decade of personal and public strife – including a split from ex-wife Paula Patton, painkiller abuse and the death of father Alan Thicke, manager Jordan Feldstein a mentor Andre Harrell.

“I certainly wish I could share this place where I am now and celebrate it with them,” Thicke said of his late father and colleagues. “But sometimes it takes time to get there.”

Thicke said of his father: “I am happy to have a kind and sincere person who taught me the ropes.”

When Thicke rose from a young star to the top of the music industry in 2002, his personal life began to unravel before his eyes.

“My marriage to Paula was falling apart,” says the father-of-four. “I started using painkillers. It was a melting pot of problems to breed, and I was so arrogant that I thought I could handle it all.”

Thicke is currently in a relationship with 26-year-old model April Love Geary. The couple are parents of daughters Mia, 2, Lola, 1, and son Luca, 2 months. Thicke also shares son Julian (10) with ex-wife Patton.

Patton filed for divorce from Thicke in 2014, citing infidelity and irreconcilable differences. The couple finalized their divorce in 2015.
