It took just 32 minutes to claim every available appointment at several emerging vaccination clinics in the Riverside County vaccination clinics – a total of 3,900 – on Thursday, January 21, county spokeswoman Brooke Federico said.
Registration for the six clinics in Perris, Lake Elsinore and Indio – the first one starting on Friday 22 January – opened on Thursday afternoon. The province distributed 3,900 doses of 26,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine received to the clinics this week; the rest goes to private suppliers.
The province offers vaccinations to those at all levels of Phase 1A – health workers and residents of long-term care institutions – and the first phase of Phase 1B, which includes residents aged 65 and over.
Residents eligible for a vaccine have expressed frustration over the province’s enrollment program as officials deal with the overwhelming demand for a limited amount of vaccine. On Twitter, dr. Cameron Kaiser, provincial public health officer, on the difficulty the public has in accessing the site for appointment.
