Riverside County opens Tuesday eligible for ages 16+

RIVERSIDE, California (KABC) – As of Tuesday, Riverside County residents 16 years and older can be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the four clinics.

Health officials in Riverside County say the change is affecting hundreds of thousands of residents. Those who are 16 or 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“The expansion of fitness will vaccinate the last large group of Riverside County residents, bringing us one step closer to herd immunity,” Kim Saruwatari, director of Riverside University Health System-Public Health, said in a press release. said. “Bringing the vaccine to a younger population, where there is an increase in cases, is a big step forward.”

Riverside County could move to the less restrictive orange level as early as this week. The province has been in the red level since March 16, and in the five months before that it was in the most restrictive purple level.
