The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia has launched a federal excessive investigation into the shooting death of Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old Trump supporter who was shot dead during the riot in the Capitol on Wednesday, CBS News reported.
The video of the incident shows an unidentified police officer shooting Babbitt while apparently trying to climb through a broken window in a barred corridor at the U.S. Capitol building.
Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, lived in Southern California but flew to the state capital for the Trump rally.

CBS reports that U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin has also begun an investigation into the death of police officer Brian Sicknick in the Capitol, who died from injuries he sustained “while physically speaking to protesters.”
The Metropolitan Police Department is also investigating Sicknick’s death.
Three other people died during the siege due to medical emergencies.
At least 13 people have been charged in federal court for their role in the deadly crime of the Capitol for crimes, ranging from interstate threats against Nancy Pelosi, house speaker, to violent trespassing and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

Another 40 people have been charged in the High Court with illegal entry, firearm offenses and other crimes.
“My office, along with our law enforcement partners at all levels, has acted swiftly and used every resource to identify, arrest and prosecute these individuals who participated in the reckless criminal acts at the U.S. Capitol,” Sherwin said Friday. said.
