Riot of Capitol seen smoking in Rotunda arrested

The FBI said On Tuesday, he arrested a man who was allegedly seen smoking in the Capitol Rotunda during the deadly riot on January 6.

According to an FBI complaint, a witness submitted videos of Greg Rubenacker, a New York man who allegedly smoked in the Rotunda during the Capitol violation. Officials said the videos were posted on Snapchat by Rubenacker.

In one track, Rubenacker apparently said, ‘Holy shit! This is history! We took the Capitol! In another segment, he apparently said, “Smoke the Capitol out, honey.” According to the complaint, it appears that Rubenacker is smoking a marijuana cigarette and using a vaping device.

In a Snapchat story that appears to be from Rubenacker’s account, protesters outside the Capitol showed up with the caption “America is dirty.”

‘The witness said [they] “I have known Rubenacker for several years and went to school with Rubenacker,” reads the FBI complaint. Your interested party also searched the New York Department of Motor Vehicles and discovered a driver’s license photo for a Greg Rubenacker. When the driver’s license photo was shown, the witness said the photo depicted the same Greg Rubenacker [they] known and observed in the Snapchat story. ‘

Rubenacker appeared in the U.S. District Court in Central Islip, NY, via video conference Tuesday. CNBC. He is facing several charges related to disorderly conduct in the Capitol.

“It’s really frustrating,” Rubenacker apparently said. “Tired of government corruption.”

According to CNBC, his lawyer replied, “This is not the time to talk about the case.”

Rubenacker’s case has been filed in federal court in DC, as well as all cases against people charged in connection with the violent riot.
