The video doorbells out there can be nice and new, but they are also very expensive and use batteries that you have to replace so often. Ring owned by Amazon launches its Video Doorbell Wired to address both the pain points – especially the cheapest in its portfolio.
If you want a 1080p camera with a night vision camera, two-way voice communication and the ability to see who is pressing the button from your smartphone, you just need to pair the doorbell on your Wi-Fi. Owners can also customize how AI detects movements in the vision to get pressure alerts at the right time. You need do-it-yourself knowledge and to see if your transformer can deliver 10-24 VAC or 40VA maximum at 50 / 60Hz, or your adapter can do 24VDC at 0.5A.
Indeed, there are other wired smart doorbells out there, though not so cheap at the moment: the Video Doorbell Wired is currently available directly at Ring for $ 60, with deliveries starting February 24th.
But with these budget options come other options. There are some advanced features available with a Ring Protect subscription, such as motion detection alerts for humans only, up to 6 seconds before recording videos and automatic photos. Customers get a free 30-day trial, then it’s $ 3 a month or $ 30 a year.
The biggest problem with the product, however, is that it will not work with an existing clock system. Customers can use an exhaust-powered bell that works wirelessly with the doorbell that comes with their doorbell for a total of $ 80.
Correction
An earlier version of this story incorrectly labeled the Video Doorbell Wired as the first wired doorbell of Ring – the Video Doorbell Pro takes the title. We regret the mistake.
