Amazon-owned Ring today unveils its cheapest smart doorbell, the Ring Video Doorbell Wired, for just $ 60. body. Despite the low price, the camera features a 1080p wide-angle camera, bidirectional sound and the same adaptive motion zones as its siblings.
Of course, the big omission is the lack of a built-in or replaceable battery, a common feature of the regular Ring range. Given the size, hassle and cost of including a cell, it makes sense for the company to offer a bare-bones option, especially given how many people customize their existing wiring. Plus, at such a low subscription price, you may feel encouraged to sign up for a Ring Protect Plan subscription.
Unfortunately, Ring still suffers from a number of privacy issues that he tries to address as quickly as possible. In mid-January, just a day after the announcement of the end-to-end coding for some of the bells, reports surfaced that the Neighbors app was exposing people’s exact addresses. Similarly, the company spent a large portion of 2020 on reports of high-profile hacking attempts and third-party app trackers.
The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is currently available on Amazon and Ring and is expected to ship on February 24th. It is also available exclusively at Home Depot from 24 to 25 March.
