Riley Keough trained to become a death doula after her brother’s death

Riley Keough completed the training to become a death doula, following the tragic passing of her brother Benjamin in July last year at 27.

Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, 31, took to Instagram to let fans know she’s certified as an End of Life doula to support people with terminal illnesses before and after their deaths.

Riley shared a quote from the poet Rumi and wrote: ‘Today I completed my Death Doula training, on The Art of Death Midwifery training course from @sacredcrossings, so I think I’m an almost certified death doula now hehe

‘And I just felt like writing such a heartfelt thank you to this community that is teaching and training people in conscious death and death work.

‘We’re taught that it’s a morbid topic to talk about. Or were we so scared that we could not talk about it … then of course it happens to us and we are very poorly prepared.

‘I think it’s as important to be educated about conscious death and death as we educate ourselves about birth and conscious birth.

‘We prepare so strictly for the entrance and do not prepare for our exit. So I am very grateful for this community and that I can contribute what I can. Thanks Olivia ‘

A death doula is someone who provides emotional and physical comfort and support to those in hospitals, hospitals and nursing homes.

The Certificate of Holy Crossings in The Art of Death Midwifery offers lessons on what it means to die, how to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to those who are dying and their families, and to provide support after the death of somebody.

In October, it appears that Riley’s brother Benjamin had cocaine and alcohol in his system when he shot himself dead after arguing with his girlfriend.

At the time, sources revealed that he was ‘struggling’ and that his death, although devastating, was not a ‘big surprise’ for his mother or other family members.

The recordings showed him arguing with his girlfriend, Diana Pinto, in the backyard of their home.

Then he went inside, locked himself in a bathroom, put a gun in his mouth and shot himself.

Pinto heard the gunshot, went inside and had to use a bobby pin to gain access to the bathroom. She found him dead and called police.

It is unclear how much alcohol or cocaine he had in his system, but there were traces of both, according to the report released by the Los Angeles office of the Coroner.

The report also described Keough’s history of mental illness.

He had tried to take his own life six months before, and spent three weeks in rehabilitation four months before he died.

Keough was the son of Lisa Marie and musician Danny Keough, her first of four husbands. The couple were together from 1988 to 1994.

Benjamin’s grandmother, Priscilla, 75, married Elvis Presley in 1967, but they divorced six years later. They had the only daughter Lisa Marie in 1968. Elvis died just nine years later.
